Wedding Tips
When choosing a photographer keep these three things in mind:
- One - Always ask to see their portfolio of their work and one entire wedding, to really see how the photographer captures the entire wedding day.
- Two - Ask for several references from former clients to get their opinion on how the photographer handle the day, the people, and the photography.
- But most importantly, I feel that at least once during your consultation, it is important to laugh with your photographer. Sounds strange but if you don’t feel comfortable with him/her in an informal meeting, then it will be difficult on your wedding day when things can be much more stressful. I find that when I can make my clients feel comfortable and laugh, I get much more interesting and inviting pictures.
When choosing a ceremony location visit the venue during the time which you plan to get married and keep in mind the more natural light the better!.
Eat Eat Eat the day of your wedding......the dress will fit & it will show in the photos and you will have more fun throughout the day.
Take the time and discuss your own unique interests with your wedding photographer, he or she can usually come up with some really great ideas to incorporate your individual style into your pictures.
Please, let the photographer know the important people who you would like photos with. Sit down with the photographer before the wedding and make a list of all the people you would like a photo with. I have a general list of important people I always photograph, i.e. mom, dad, sisters, brother, grandparents, but if there is a special photo you want let me know, I am more than happy to photograph them!
Try on your necklace with your wedding dress before the big day an make sure it is the correct length.
Allow enough time for the hair dresser to do everyone’s hair. You would be surprised but about 90% of my brides are not ready when I arrive to photograph them. So just be aware of the amount of time the hair dresser needs and the time it takes to get dressed. Do not worry if you are late, it is my job to produce stunning photographs no matter how much time I have to do it in, and I will!
Portrait Tips
I always schedule one hour for a portrait session, if you can pick the time of day for an outdoor portrait, the best time is early morning and late afternoon.
For clothing, simple is always better. Wear something that you feel comfortable in, as it will show in the photos.
For Infant/children portraits, do not worry about the time, and do not stress. I will capture beautiful moments when the subject(s) does not even know I am taking them. Outdoor portraits are best if you child does not like to sit still or be photographed, as I can use natural light and the child can just play!
Have fun, you want the photographs to represent a time in your life and you want them to be accurate, so just be you. Remember, everyone takes a beautiful photo, you just have to have be photographed correctly for your body shape and personality.
